Ellen Leasum Landwehr is a summer resident who resides in her family home located in Washington Harbor. She is a “master stroke” artist, an honor bestowed by the International Society of Decorative Painters, of which she is a member. She has authored two rosemaling instructional books and had an exemplary piece which toured Japan and now lies in a museum.
She has taught the art of rosemaling (a Norwegian folk art form) and other styles of painting for thirty plus years, both locally and out of state, teaching at colleges and conventions around the country.
My finest hour was an invitation to the White House. She has painted for three administrations, but for the first time was formally invited to have lunch with Laura Bush. Her husband Jerry accompanied her and they experienced the most impressive time in her painting career
Ellen hopes you enjoy her work on display this summer at the Art & Nature Center as much as she enjoyed creating new designs and exposing more people to the almost lost art of rosemaling.
Opening Reception: June 23rd at 4:00 pm
